Nicolas Holveck became President of Stade Rennais on 18th March 2020, at the height of the Corona Virus pandemic. Having climbed the ladder from trainee to Assistant Director at Nancy, he then went on to take on a role with a lot of responsibilities at Monaco. Nicolas Holveck took over at Stade Rennais a few weeks after the departure of Olivier Létang. At the time of his arrival, he was leading a club who were 3rd in Ligue 1 and the reigning French Cup holders. Alas, he was struck down by Cancer, and was forced to run the club remotely during the COVID-19 crisis in 2020 and 2021. During his fight against the disease, he experienced two excellent qualifications for European football. In 2021, Rennes qualified for the Europa Conference League, and in May 2022, a fourth-placed finish enabled Rennes to qualify for the Europa League once more. He then decided to hand over the reins to Olivier Cloarec to devote his energies to his struggle against Cancer. Cloarec took over the role of Executive President on 24th May 2022. On 31st August 2023, Holveck left the club definitively to take on the role as President at AS Nancy Lorraine.
