Born in Guinea, Abdoul Camara was a product of the Stade Rennais Academy setup. This pacy and unpredictable left winger signed his first professional contract in August 2007, in the company of Le Tallec and M’Vila. Nevertheless, it took him a while to make his first appearance as a professional, as an injury kept him on the treatment table. He was still able to fit in an appearance at the Stade de France in the 3-1 Gambardella Cup Final (French FA Youth Cup) success against Bordeaux. Under the tutelage of Lacombe, he made his debut in an away match at Marseille (0-4) in May 2009. The following season, he was loaned out to Vannes, and made a name for himself. In doing so, he also gained the confidence of Manager Antonetti when he returned from his loan spell. Antonetti used him as a substitute, often bringing him on at the end of matches, often to very good effect. This opened the door to the French U21s. But it all turned sour after a disagreement with his boss at half-time during a 0-4 defeat at Montpellier, and he was directly transferred to Sochaux.
