Alain Pécout was a striker born in the Loir-et-Cher region of France, and he arrived at Stade Rennais in 1953 from RC Paris. Having made two appearances in the Odorico Cup in August 1953, he would only make his next appearance in the First-Team line-up with the professionals mid-season, employed as a winger. He would play in just five league games that season, scoring a solitary goal on matchday 15 - in the Second Division campaign - against Sedan, where he gave Rennes the lead in the 66th minute. He would make just one appearance in the following 1954/1955 season, starting at left-back on the opening day of the season. That would be the last time that he would be seen in a Rennes shirt, and he ultimately left the club to sign for Le Mans, where he played out the remainder of his playing career.
