Alexander Tettey joined Stade Rennais FC in July 2009 from Rosenborg in a transfer deal worth 4.75 Million Euros. This versatile midfielder who covers an enormous amount of ground during a game was brought in to compensate for the loss of M’Bia to Marseille, whilst bringing a more technically adept aspect to the side’s ability to build from the back. Tettey struggled however to adapt not just to his daily life in France, but also in terms on his football, the player of Norwegian/Ghanean roots struggled with injuries in his first season. It wasn’t until the end of 2010/beginning of 2011, when the Norwegian international finally started to find his feet, scoring 4 goals between January and February, including 3 in the French Cup. In the 2011/2012 season, his path to the starting line-up was blocked by the young trio of M’Vila, Pajot and Doumbia., and he only made 33 appearances, of which 19 were from the start. In August 2012, the Norwegian midfielder was expected to move to Turkey, but ended up heading to Norwich City for 1.5 Million Euros, after 82 matches and 5 goals in a Rennes shirt.
