Having arrived at Stade Rennais in 2008 aged just 7, Alexis Trouillet climbed the ladder in each age group with the club that developed him. On 24th February 2018, the left-sided midfielder signed his first professional contract with the club, to put an end to interest from other clubs. Having taken part in the entire pre-season programme in the Summer of 2019 under Julien Stéphan, he made it known that he wanted to leave the club. Punished for his desire to leave, he was left out of the First Team squad as a result. Alexis Trouillet signed for Nice on 31st January 2020 without ever having worn a Rennes shirt as a professional.
