During the winter transfer window in 2013, Stade Rennais signed Anders Konradsen to compensate for the departure of M’Vila to Rubin Kazan. Three months earlier, the Norwegian international midfielder had humiliated the French U21s (featuring Mavinga, M’Vila and Pajot) in a 5-3 win for his country in a qualification match for the U21 European Championships. Sometimes used as a defensive midfielder, sometimes box-to-box, sometimes as a right-sided midfielder, Konradsen had also scored in that game. Tracked by Pierre Dréossi’s scouts for almost a year, he signed a 4-year contract with the Breton club, 17 years after the first Norwegian player to join the club: Rekdal, whom Tettey had succeeded as of 2009. Under Philippe Montanier, he was picked for 60 matches, scoring 5 goals in a team which was disappointing as a whole.
