André Pennec was a midfielder born in the Finistère region of Brittany. He started his playing day with a local club, Stade Landivisien, and arrived at Stade Rennais in 1978, aged 17. He would only make two brief appearances in his two seasons with the Red and Blacks. He was given a place in the starting line-up on 24th February 1979, on matchday 23, in a 0-3 defeat at Melun, and his second game didn't go much better, a 0-1 defeat at Boulogne-sur-Mer on 12th May 1979. After this brief spell, he left Rennes in 1980 to join the amateur side AS Brestoise, where he would spend two seasons. He went on to end his playing career with US Cléder, before going in to coaching, managing US Saint Servais-Saint Derrien from 1984-1987. As of 2021, he is currently the 19th youngest player to have started a professional match for Stade Rennais (aged 17 years, 9 months and 15 days.)
