Bernard Gartioux was a striker who was born in the Cher region of France. He signed for Stade Rennais for the 1967/1968 season, after playing Le Havre's amateur team. Whilst at Rennes, he would mainly figure in the Reserve Team, and made just one First Team appearance with the pros. Jean Prouff, handed him his debut in the starting line-up as left winger on matchday 4 in the First Division against Lille (0-2 defeat). It would prove to be his only gametime as a professional at Rennes. At the end of that season, he signed for Montluçon, where he would spend two years, before ending his playing days with Bourges in the 1970/1971 season.
