Bernard Ruaudel was born in Rennes, and began his footballing journey with the team Cadets de Bretagne, where he played as a right winger. He signed for Stade Rennais in 1962, but would mainly see action with the Reserves. It wasn't until the end of the 1962/1963 season that he would make his first appearance in the senior squad, making his First Division debut on matchday 38, on 25th May 1963, against Nice, in a 3-3 draw. He was given a place in the starting line-up on two occasions, in the French-Italian Cup in June 1963 against Genoa. The following season, he would only make 4 appearances for the First Team, the last of which came on 15th December 1963, in a 1-2 away defeat at Nantes. He eventually left Rennes at the end of that same season, and finished his playing career with US Saint Malo.
