Career |

Bertrand Ketchanke was a journeyman of football. Born in Cameroon of Mauritanian parents, and also dual-national with French nationality, he was developed by Auxerre. Central defender and sometimes defensive midfielder, he was noted for his sprinting ability and his powerful shot. After being frustrated in Burgundy, he signed his first professional contract with Stade Rennais in 1997. Loaned a year later to Reims, he failed to secure more game-time. He ended up running out his contract with Rennes, as a stop-gap player in the Reserve team in CFA (French 4th Division). He finally got his career off the ground overseas, playing in 5 countries (Scotland, Italy (amateur), England, Northern Ireland and South Africa) whilst representing Mauritania’s national side.
