On 29th August 2023, Stade Rennais signed Bertuğ Yıldırım from Hatayspor for 5 Million Euros. The imposing Turkish U21 striker signed a 5 year deal tying him to the club until 2028, and completed the Rennes attacking options as he provided a profile which was missing in the squad at the time. His time at Rennes would not be destined to hit the heights. Used sparingly by Génésio and Stéphan respectively, he would finish his lone season in a Red and Black shirt with just one goal in 19 appearances for Rennes. With his route to first-team football barred by the arrival of Henrik Meister from Sarpsborg 08 during the Summer transfer window in August 2024, the striker was supposed to sign for Norwich in the English Championship, however the Canaries withdrew from the deal after his medical check. Finally, it would be a Spanish club who came to the rescue to give the promising Turkish international a new chance. Getafe signed Yıldırım from Rennes on 23rd August 2024 in a loan deal for the 2024/2025 season with a buyout clause of over 5 Millions Euros. In Spain, the Turkish striker would score one goal in his 22 appearances for Getafe, who decided not to activate the buyout clause in his loan deal at the end of the 2024/2025 season. When he returned to Rennes, Yildirim would complete pre-season preparations with the First Team squad, but was unable to make the number 9 shirt his own, despite the departure of star striker Arnaud Kalimuendo to Nottingham Forest in the Summer Transfer window 2025. His situation was further complicated by the combined arrivals of Esteban Lepaul and Brice Embolo. Conscious of the fact that he desperately needed game-time in the season leading up to the World Cup in 2026, he returned to his native Türkiye with compatriot team-mate Doğan Alemdar to sign for Turkish Süper Lig side Istanbul Başakşehir F.K on the 12th September 2025, having made just 29 appearances in a Rennes shirt (23 of which were as a substitute, including his last match for the club - a 1-1 draw at Angers on 31st August 2025.) His lone goal came in the Europa League in a 3-0 victory over Macaabi Haifa at Roazhon Park on 21st September 2023.
