|Full name||Birger Solberg Meling|
|Born||Dec 17, 1994|
|Age||28 years old|
On the lookout for a left-back to succeed Faitout Maouassa and support the promising Adrien Truffert, Stade Rennais signed Birger Meling on 20th July 2021. Just one year after he had made a convincing debut season in Ligue 1, the Norwegian international left Nimes in exchange for a 3 Million Euros transfer fee with performance-related bonuses. He would find himself in healthy competition for the left-back spot with the promising Adrien Truffert, he would have a solid first season in Red and Black, and would soon make his mark, with an excellent mastery of French. On 30th September 2022, he extended his contract with Rennes until 2026. The Norwegian always displayed a great attitude, and was reliable both on and off the pitch. He would make 73 appearances in the Red and Black shirt of Rennes, and was a firm fan favourite, and fittingly received a warm ovation and a great send-off from the fans and his team mates at the end of his last appearance for Stade Rennais, in a 5-1 win at home to Metz on 13th August 2023, the first game of the 2023/2024 league season. After two good years with Rennes, but with gametime limited owing to competition for places, he left the Red and Blacks to sign FC Copenhagen in the Danisk top flight.
