Stade Rennais were on the lookout for players to bolster their attack during the Summer transfer window in 2025. The Red and Blacks were knocked back with the ultimate failure of the negotiations with Conrad Harder (Sporting Portugal). Sporting Director Loïc Désiré thus turned to Breel Embolo. On Transfer Deadline Day, 1st September 2025, minutes before the window closed, the Swiss international striker signed for Stade Rennais on a four-year contract, in a deal worth 13 Million Euros plus 2 Million Euros in bonus, from Monaco.
