After a notable spell at Paris Saint Germain, Bruno Roux signed for Stade Rennais during the Summer of 1993. Aged 30, his task was to nurture the young rising stars at the club: Pierre-Yves André and Sylvain Wiltord in the Breton squad. He went on to score 10 goals in 40 appearances, and helped Rennes secure a return to the top flight. At the end of the season, however, he was released by the club, who were gambling on the recruitment of a certain Marco Grassi for their first season back in the First Division.
