Cheikh N'Diaye signed for Stade Rennais FC in July 2005. Having arrived in France a year earlier at Noisy-le-Sec, this Senegalese goalkeeper replaced the disappointing Chaigneau in Bölöni’s squad. In the battle with Pouplin for the rôle of understudy, he was passed in the end in 2006. He was loaned out to Créteil for the 2007/2008 season in National (French Third Division), and he got his moment of glory in April 2009, when he came at half-time to replace Douchez in the Semi-Final of the French Cup at Grenoble (1-0 win). The Senegalese goalkeeper kept a clean sheet to send his team to the Final at the Stade de France. In June 2011, he returned from another loan spell, this time at Paris FC, and became third-choice keeper behind Costil and Diallo. In November 2013, he was pressed into action at Parc des Prince to replace Costil, who had been sent off, and pulled off some miraculous saves to preserve Rennes 2-1 win despite playing 9 v 11. After a final fixed-term contract for a year for the 2013/2014 season, he refused an extension, and remained without a club until June 2015, when he signed for Sedan in National.
