Transferred from Toulouse or 5.5 Million Euros in 2006, Daniel Moreira had the tough task of emulating Frei (52 goals) as centre-forward at Stade Rennais. After an encouraging pre-season, Moreira started alongside Utaka and Monterrubio. But he suffered from a goal drought, and bad luck. In 1755 minutes of football, he didn’t manage a single goal in the 2006/2007 season, even if the one-on-one situations, and pinpoint crosses were pretty commonplace. From clumsy to unlucky, he had the firm intention to have a better second season, but with the blossoming of Briand, and the arrivals of Emerson, Pagis and Wiltord in his position, he had the misfortune of rupturing his cruciate knee ligaments in pre-season. He returned in December, but was still unable to find the net in 13 further appearances. After the last stand in Simferopol in 2008, again without finding the net, he was loaned to Grenoble, where he rediscovered the joy of scoring once more, before signing for Boulogne in 2009.
