Paired with Souprayen in central defence, David Louhoungou was one of the architects in Stade Rennais FC’s win in the Gambardella Cup (French FA Youth Cup) in 2008. Unfortunately, the club of Ermines didn’t offer him a contract, although it wouldn’t have been undeserved if he had got one. As soon as he arrived from Clairefontaine in 2005, he made his mark in each of the teams he played for. In the end, he paid the price for a mixed bag season with the Reserves in CFA (French 4th Division) in the 2008/2009 season, and also the competition for places with promising defenders at the club, such as Théophile-Catherine, Souprayen and Jebbour. In 2009, he got his professional career up-and-running in Scotland.
