As a pure product of the Football Development scheme at Stade Rennais, David Voisin joined the First Team squad in the course of the 1994/1995 season. Striker by trade, Voisin made his debut on 27th May 1995 in victory at Montpellier as a midfielder. He came on as substitute for Thomas in the 87th minute of the game, and came on for Lambert in the following match (a 2-2 draw with Saint-Etienne.) He didn’t fulfil his potential, however, in the eyes of his Manager Le Milinaire, and in particular his Assistant, Colleu. The player from Cherbourg only made four appearances in the 1995/1996 season, and one less in the following season when Colleu was First Team Manager, with a rare start against Caen (1-1). During that match on 1st February 1997, he was injured the first time he touched the ball, and replaced by Diaf after just 3 minutes. After that he became first-choice, but in the Reserve team, and failed to figure on a single team-sheet under David in the 1997/1998 season. In the Summer of 1998, he was transferred to Châteauroux in Division 2.
