Dimitri Foulquier arrived from Guadeloupe at the age of 14. He was a priority for Rampillon, who was the Director of Rennes’ Academy setup. After easily progressing through each category at Youth Team level, he was awarded the Academy Award in 2010 for his academic and sporting results. At the beginning of 2011, Antonetti regularly included him at First Team training after the departure of Fanni to Marseille. After two appearances, one of which was particularly impressive, away to Atletico Madrid, the right-back signed his first professional contract in December 2011, at the tender age of 18. Twenty or so appearances for Stade Rennais later, he became U20 World Champion in July 2013. He requested considerably greater amount of game-time at the return for pre-season, which new manager Montanier wasn’t able to promise him, so Foulquier was loaned out to Granada with a buyout clause in August 2013. Now an U21 international, he made his move to Granada permanent in May 2014 in transfer worth 2.3 Million Euros after a convincing season as right-back, but also playing as left-back too.
