In the Summer of 2021, Stade Rennais laid the foundations for the future for the role of goalkeeper, signing Doğan Alemdar. First-choice keeper in the Süper Lig (Turkish First Division) at just 18 years of age, the goalkeeper of Kayserispor and Turkish U18 international signed a 5-year deal with Rennes in a deal worth 3.5 Million Euros on 27th August 2021. He swiftly rose up the ranks in the goalkeeping hierarchy in Rennes, going from fourth-choice to second-choice in the 2021/2022 season, acting as understudy to Alfred Gomis. He notably saved a penalty in a league victory at Reims. Shortly after, he would earn his first call-up to the Turkish senior national team. In the 2022/2023 season, he played the role of understudy to Steve Mandanda, and even saved a penalty against Ajaccio, having cost his team a goal the previous week against Monaco, after coming on to replace the injured Mandanda. After two seasons without making any notable progress, he was loaned out to Troyes on the 5th July 2023, without a buy-out clause. In the same transaction, Rennes signed Gauthier Gallon with the Troyes goalkeeper going in the other direction. During his loan spell with Troyes, he would make 35 appearances, but his momentum was stopped in its tracks by a long-term injury, which kept him out of action for a season. Despite the departure of Steve Mandanda at the end of the 2024/2025, Alemdar was unable to reclaim the number 1 jersey by right, as Rennes had recruited French international goalkeeper Brice Samba in his absence, and Samba immediately took on the mantle of first-choice at the club. Even if Alemdar's name figured on the teamsheets of games at the start of the 2025/2026 season, he would not add to his disappointing tally of just 18 matches in a Rennes shirt in four seasons, and sought much needed match-practice as he eyed a place in Türkiye's World Cup squad. On 12th September 2025, he left Brittany to head back to his native Türkiye along with compatriot team-mate Bertuğ Yıldırım, and sign for Istanbul Başakşehir F.K in the Turkish Süper Lig.
