Emile Legangnoux was born in Saint-Brieuc, and joined Stade Rennais in 1948, after spells with Saint-Malo and Drapeau de Fougères. After seeing little action during the 1948/1949 season in the First Division, he left after just a year to sign for Strasbourg for the following campaign. Offensive midfielder, Legangnoux could also play in attack. He then moved on to Besançon in the Second Division in 1950. Whilst there, he enjoyed the club's heyday over three seasons. He returned to the top-flight with Le Havre in 1953, before returning to Rennes two seasons later. Between 1955 and 1957, he would be first-choice in Red and Black, helping his team to the Second Division title in 1956. But in the years that followed, he gradually lost his place in the starting line-up, and eventually quit Rennes, and professional football, aged 36, in 1961. He still played on in amateur football with AC Pouzauges in the Vendée region of France. He passed away on 11th June 2014, aged 89.
