Paris-born Emmanuel Guimbart was a goalkeeper, who played for several years with US Servannaise et Malouine, in Saint-Malo. In 1942, he was recruited by Stade Rennais, where he would stay until 1947. During his five seasons in Red and Black, he would make just nine appearances in the league, being considered as understudy, in turn, to the successive first-choice goalkeepers of the day: Lahogue, Mercier, Gonzales, de Montmarin and Hatz. He would leave the club in 1947, with a record of 25 goals conceded. After that, he would play amateur football with the works team of magazine "le Nouvelliste de Bretagne"
