Esteban Gomez was a Spanish-born midfielder, who began his football career with Red Star in Paris, before joining Besançon, with whom he would finish with a Champions' medal in Division d'Honneur. We went on to lift the French Cup with Racing Paris, despite not participating in the final itself. Gomez was the brother of Victor (who played for Rennes in the 1953/1954 season), and he signed for Strasbourg in 1945. During the 1947/1948 season, he was loaned out to Nice, with whom he would finish top of the Second Division, before returning to the Alsace region. His career highlight came with Toulouse, in the 1949/1950 season, finishing fourth in the First Division. The next season, he moved on to Stade Rennais, where he instantly became a regular in the starting eleven, alongside Prouff in the heart of the Rennes midfield. The following season, he lost his place in the starting line-up, with competition from Cueff and Sandroni. He went on to leave Stade Rennais University Club in 1952, and played out his last season as a professional with Troyes in the Second Division.
