Foued Kadir joined Stade Rennais in August 2013 on loan. With his prospects of game-time at Marseille blocked, the attacking midfielder arrived in Brittany to renew acquaintances with the Manager who had discovered him at Valenciennes. Keen to take part in the 2014 World Cup with Algeria, Kadir has no choice but to leave his beloved club. He started his season well, scoring 5 times in his first 7 matches, including braces against Ajaccio and Valenciennes. He demonstrated his technical ability, his shooting prowess and his perceptiveness on the pitch. Unfortunately, pretty much like the rest of the team, he lacked consistency in his performances, and he saw his role in the starting eleven gradually replaced by that of a replacement as the season wore on. As a player who refused contact according to his successive bosses, he didn’t exactly help his case by lacking commitment in a team where this was a major problem. Unsurprisingly Stade Rennais decided not to take advantage of the buyout clause for Kadir, who returned to Marseille in June 2014.
