Frédéric Cado is a goalkeeper who was developed at Stade Rennais FC. In 1992, he replaced – on paper, at least – the illustrious Pierrick Hiard in the squad, after Hiard announced his retirement. As the understudy for Pascal Rousseau, he was always in the squad. He even managed two consecutive starts in December 1992 when the first-choice keeper was suspended. These two matches, in spite of being both clean-sheets, were to be his only appearances in a Rennes jersey. He was to be pushed out of contention by Gillet Rousset and Tony Heurtebis in the hierarchy at the club, which he left in 1995 to join the amateur club Saint-Leu.
