On 5th July 2023, the Stade Rennais signed Gauthier Gallon as cover for Steve Mandanda. Gallon had previously played for Nîmes, Orléans and Troyes. The goalkeeper, born in 1993, signed a three-year deal with the Red and Blacks, in a transaction which saw Dogan Alemdar loaned to ESTAC Troyes (without a buyout clause) as a trade-off.
Having made 7 appearances as understudy, first to Steve Mandanda, and then to Brice Samba, he dropped to number 5 in the goalkeeping hierarchy at the club, following the signing on professional contracts by Mathys Silistrie, Ayoub Akabou and Killian Belazzoug during the summer of 2025. On 13th January 2026, he was released from the remaining 18 months of his contract, and signed for FCV Dender in Belgium on a free transfer.
