George Merloi arrived at Stade Rennais’ Academy from Steaua Bucharest in 2016. This young Romanian midfielder spent three rather low-key seasons at the club, in spite of his undeniable qualities. At the end of his spell training with the Academy in June 2019, he was released by the club. He bounced back in the Romanian first division with Academica Clinceni in September 2019.
