Of Cameroon extraction, but born in Saint-Brieuc, Gerzino Nyamsi arrived at Stade Rennais as early as 2003. This tall central defender 1.93m tall, made his mark in the CFA Reserve team (French 4th Division) in the 2016/2017 season, after finishing the Ploufragan Tournament in July 2016 as top scorer! He progressed well under Julien Stéphan, who got him to sign his first professional contract for three seasons with Stade Rennais on 29th May 2017. With a plethora of injuries to First Team players, Nyamsi was given his first start in the 3-1 away win at Marseille in September 2017. He was then also given two further starts under the stewardship of Christian Gourcuff. When Gourcuff was sacked, Sabri Lamouchi left him out of the side. On 31st January 2018, was transferred to Châteauroux, but returned to Rennes when his original club exercised their rights to buy him back as a priority in June 2018. His return was linked to a new 4-year-contract. After a complicated start to the season under Lamouchi, he rose to third-choice central defender after Julien Stéphan was named new Manager. After a convincing display, particularly in the French Cup Semi-Final, he extended his contract at Rennes on the 1st July 2019. Situated as first or second-choice backup in central defence between 2019 and 2021, he still notably claimed the captain's armband for the youthful Rennes side who played Lazio in the Europa League. On 30th August 2021, he made a permanent move from Rennes to Strasbourg, where linked up with former manager, Julien Stéphan.
