All in all, Gwenaël Corbin, only made one single official appearance for Stade Rennais’ First Team. This versatile midfielder was a home-grown talent, and a team-mate of the same generation of Heurtebis, Le Pen and Wiltord. With Lambert and Huard absent, he was named in the starting line-up against Strasbourg by Le Milinaire for the 5th game of the season. The game took place at the Meinau Stadium on 19th August 1995, but it won’t be a game that Corbin will remember fondly. The lad from Normandy was completely overrun (much like the rest of his team) by the opposition that day, with the likes of Dacourt, Sauzée, Keller and Mostovoï on fire in a 1-3 defeat for Rennes. After that game, Rennes recovered, but Corbin was subsequently dropped, and never appeared on another teamsheet at Rennes after that. At the end of the season, he left for amateur club Angoulème, and then Pontivy before taken on the role of Manager at Guichen.
