In the Summer of 2019, Stade Rennais quietly signed Hakim El Mokeddem from Toulouse. The French-Algerian attacking midfielder was loaned almost straight away to Laval in National 1 (French 3rd Division). After returning to Brittany from his loan spell in Laval, he was loaned out once more for a season to FC Sète in National 1 (French 3rd Division) on 8th September 2020. At the beginning of July 2021, El Mokeddem made his move to FC Sète permanent, having spent just a month in Rennes of his two-year contract.
