On the 31st January 2023, Stade Rennais made a last-minute signing of young striker Ibrahim Salah just before the transfer window deadline. Salah arrived from Ghent on 3.5 Million Euros deal (with potential add-ons of 3 Million Euros in bonuses) and was awarded a four-and-a-half year contract. The Moroccan U21 international had just burst onto the scene in Belgium in the Ghent first team setup. He is capable playing up front both as a centre forward, and as a wide player. Salah had previously caught the eye of Rennes’ Director of Football, Florian Maurice, and his signature was designed to replace Kamaldeen Sulemana, who had departed moments earlier to sign for Southampton.
In one-and-a-half seasons at Rennes, Salah would score seven goals. Not figuring in the manager’s plans for the 2024/2025 season, the Moroccan was loaned to Brest on 30th August 2024 with a 5 Million Euros buyout clause. He arrived at Brest, as his new club prepared to take on the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Champions League.
