In 2008, Jérémy Hélan finished his course at the French Football Centre INF Clairefontaine, and signed an agreement to join Stade Rennais FC. The left back was expected to join up with his new club at the start of preseason, but never turned up at the Academy, and succumbed to the temptation of the Premier League. Whilst the administrative mix-up wasn’t resolved, he trained with Manchester City’s Youth Team in January 2009. A few weeks later, the Mancunian club paid Rennes compensation for the non-respect of his contract.
