On 24th June 1990, Jocelyn Rico signed for Stade Rennais from Cannes. The Breton had been given his debut in professional football in 1978, and he signed up for a last challenge in the top flight with Stade Rennais after spells at Paris Saint Germain and Nice. A few days after the arrival of François Omam-Biyik, he was brought in to strengthen the right side of Rennes’ back four. During his first two seasons, he was first choice at right-back in Division, but was in the struggling side which was salvaged in 1991 (after finishing bottom) and then relegated to the Second Division in 1992. In the 1992/1993 season, he switched to the left side of the defence, and played a part in a good season for Rennes, spoilt only by missing out in the promotion play-offs to get back into the First Division. He left the club in the Summer of 1993 to go back to his native Concarneau.
