Born in the Côtes d'Armor region of Brittany, Joseph Le Page arrived at Stade Rennais in 1950, signing from Lamballe. This attacker was mostly deployed on the wings, on both sides of the front line. He would make just 28 appearances in a Rennes shirt over the course of four seasons. He still managed to score eight goals, of which three came during his first season at the club. He would later be frozen out of the starting line-up owing to fierce competition for places in attack, and left Stade Rennais at the end of the 1953/1954 season, swapping Brittany for Algeria, where he continued to play for SC Bel-Abbès.
