With Jeunechamp out with a serious injury, and Le Lan departed to Guingamp, Stade Rennais FC, who had qualified for the UEFA Cup, needed to bring in reinforcements to strengthen the left side of their defence in the Summer of 2005. After the arrival of Rochat, the club signed Laszlo Sepsi on loan from Gaz Metan Medias in Romania. Highly recommended by Bölöni the Romanian coach at the time, Sepsi found himself relegated to 3rd choice in terms of the full-back positions, after the recruitment of Edman at the end of August. He did, however, take advantage of the club’s elimination from European competition to make his debut in match with nothing at stake in Salonica (1-5 defeat), and then he benefitted from the expulsion of Rochat to take part in two French Cup ties against Montpellier (5-3 win) and then the Semi-Final in Marseille (0-3). Released after his loan spell, despite his undoubted qualities with his technical ability and pace, Sepsi returned to his native Romania and Bistrita, and then signed for Benfica in 2008, where he won his first cap in the Romanian national team.
