Lilian Brassier arrived at the Stade Rennais Academy in July 2013 from his hometown of Argenteuil. Left-sided central defender, he was regularly promoted to play in older age groups at the club. Whilst still an apprentice in his last year at the Academy, he was called up by Manager Julien Stéphan into the senior squad for the first time for an away match in Lyon in April 2019. He then signed his first professional contract for three seasons on 17th June 2019, and was sent out on a season’s loan to Valenciennes (Ligue 2) on the 21st June, four days later. After a promising loan spell, Brassier took part in the entirety of pre-season preparations under Julian Stéphan. On the 5th October 2020, he was loaned to Brest with an obligatory buyout clause worth 2 Million Euros (if Brest avoid relegation from Ligue 1). At the end of the 2020/2021 season, with Brest saved on the final day, his move to Stade Brestois was made permanent.
