Louis Bodez began his playing days in his hometown of Saint Brieuc, with Stade Briochin. In 1960, he signed for Stade Rennais and was in the First Team starting line-up at the beginning of the 1960/1961 season. He even scored on the opening day of the First Division season, his one and only goal for Rennes, getting the equaliser against Toulouse (final score 3-2). He would unfortunately begin to lose his place progressively in the Rennes midfield, with Lavaud and Ziemczak taking advantage of their opportunities at his expense. He was subsequently dropped down to the amateur team, and was barely seen again thereafter in the professional side, making just two appearances in the whole of the 1961/1962 season. He eventually returned to Stade Briochin, where he would end his playing career. He passed away, aged just 57 years old, in Rennes on 12th September 1995.
