Louis Guégan was a striker who was born in the Côtes d'Armor region of Brittany. He only enjoyed a brief career as a professional footballer, making just four appearances in the Stade Rennais first-team in the 1956/1957 season. He had been developed by CPB Rennes, and made his professional debut for Rennes on 23rd September 1956 in a 1-2 away defeat at Nîmes. Guégan would leave Rennes at the end of the 1956/1957 season in search of more game-time, and play out the remaining days of his playing career in amateur football in the Mayenne region of France.
