Originally from Chad, Loum Tchaouna started playing football at U6 level for FC Kronenbourg in the city of Strasbourg. This left-footed centre-forward then went to SC Schiltigheim for the 2010/2011 season and then spent the next three seasons with RC Strasbourg Alsace. In 2014, he joined the Academy set-up at Stade Rennais in the Youth Section, starting at U13 level. During the 2018/2019 season, and despite his young age, he was promoted to the age category above in the U17s and U19s playing at National level. In that season, he would finish top scorers in the Stade Rennais Academy with 23 goals, of which 20 were scored with the U17s and 3 with the U19s. Brother of a former Chad international, he would not go on to represent his native country, but instead played for the French U16s, gaining 9 caps, scoring twice in that time. On 10th December 2020, he signed his first professional contract with the Red and Blacks, which will come into effect on 1st July 2021, tying him to Rennes for three seasons, until 2024. Having made just 14 brief appearances during the 2021/2022, with his highpoint coming in the away leg at Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League, he was loaned out to Second Division Dijon on 30th August, with no buyout option. After an indifferent loan spell, he would soon find himself on the way back out of Rennes in the pre-season preparation, and was given a free transfer to Salernitana in Italy on 30th August 2023, linking up with former Rennes goalkeeper Benoit Costil. Even if they did not earn money from the transfer fee, Stade Rennais retained a clause in the transaction, giving them percentage of any future resale of Tchaouna. A year later, he signed for Lazio, and netted 3.2 Million Euros in bonus for his former club.
