Eliséo Manuel Mendonça (pronounced Mendoza), was born in Angola, and arrived at Stade Rennais in December 1966 along with Takac, with the objective of bolstering the Red and Black's attack. He was a first-choice striker as of Matchday 21 in the 1966/1967 season, making his debut against Laval on 8th January 1967 (0-4), and went on to make three consecutive appearances, before gradually disappearing from the scene. He would go on to make a total of just 7 appearances, one of which came in the French Cup, but he would never win over Manager Jean Prouff, as a potential matchwinner in the Rennes side of the day. He would leave the club after just six months, crossing the Atlantic to play in the United States, before returning to Europe to finish his career in Turkey.
