Born in 2006, Mathis Lambourde began his playing days with COSMCS Saint-Denis, before spending a couple of seasons with FC Lilas, then Paris-Saint-Germain. He was picked up by Stade Rennais during his third year at JA Drancy, and he integrated Rennes' Academy setup in 2021. Vastly talented striker, he had an exceptional 2022/2023 season for the club, notching 24 goals in all competitions. His progression through the ranks was remarkable from U16s to National 2 (French Fourth Division) with the Reserves, via the U17s. But the real icing on the cake for the 2022/2023 season was being picked for the French U17s side which played in the U17 European Championships, reaching the final of the competition. Despite being a substitute at the beginning of the tournament, he would soon gain a place in the starting line-up from the Quarter-Finals stage, scoring important goals against England and Spain. A real start of the future, he signed his first professional contract with Rennes on 28th July 2023.
After three brief appearances, totalling 19 minutes of game time, he left the club that developed him on 30th August 2024 to join Italian outfit Hellas Verona in a deal worth 3 Million Euros + 1 Million Euros in potential bonuses. The transfer took place a week after he was given a suspended sentence of 2 years imprisonment following an accident on an electric scooter which caused the death of a 51-year-old lady in Rennes.
