Born in 2005, goalkeeper Mathys Silistrie began his footballing experience with the youth team at Evreux before continuing his development with the Academy setup at Stade Rennais in 2018. In the 2022/2023 season, the young goalkeeper made a name for himself in the French Youth Cup (Coupe Gambardella), helping his team to victory in no fewer than three penalty shoot-outs. After that he continued to rise up through the ranks, and became first-choice keeper with the Reserves in the 2024/2025 season. He made 20 appearances under the guidance of boss Sébastien Tambouret, and also featured in 7 matches in the U21 national tournament "Challenge Espoirs", a brand new cup competition introduced that season. In January 2025, Silistrie even earned his first call-up as cover in the professional squad for the home game against Brest at Roazhon Park. At the end of a successful season, Silistrie penned his first professional contract, signing a one-year deal (with two additional years as an option) for the club that developed him. After appearing on the teamsheet for a number of games in Ligue 1, Silistrie was given his first-ever start as a professional footballer in the 3-0 victory at Roazhon Park in the Round of 64 of the French Cup against the amateurs of Les Sables Vendéens on 21st December 2025, in so doing becoming the first Rennes-developed goalkeeper to obtain a clean-sheet on his professional debut.
