Native of Vitré, Maxime Pattier joined Stade Rennais FC from the club Etrelles in 2006. The goalkeeper was cosseted by the Academy, and came to the attention of the hierarchy in January 2014. Firstly he stopped every single penalty taken by Guingamp’s players in a Gambardella Cup shoot-out, then became third-choice keeper in the First Team after Diallo was loaned out to Le Havre. Behind Costil and N’Diaye, he had a rapid promotion aged just 17. Unfortunately for Pattier, his height was deemed insufficient to gain a professional contract at Rennes. When his apprentice professional contract ran out, he left Rennes to sign for FC Lorient’s Reserve team in June 2016.
