Born in the Calvados region of Normandy, and developed as a footballer by SM Caen, Michel Wattelet would sign for Stade Rennais in 1962. This attacker would play mostly on the left wing, and was given his Rennes debut in the opening matches of the 1962/1963 season, before gradually disappearing from the starting line-up. In total, he made ten appearances for the First Team, including one in the French Cup, and scored once on matchday 6 against Reims. Released at the end of the season, he returned to Normandy to sign for US Quevilly, where he would spend five seasons, and reached the French Cup Semi-Final in 1968. He ended his career with Lisieux in the Third Division, as Player-Manager, finally retiring in 1980.
