Moroccan-born defender Mohamed Jaouab is a promising player who was developed at Académie Royale Mohamed VI, just like a certain Nayef Aguerd. Good at clearing his lines, he is also good in the air, and he arrived in September 2022, signing his first professional contract for two years, tying him to Stade Rennais until June 2024. This tall centre-back (1.98 metres) can also play as a defensive midfielder. His arrival was primarily seen as a recruit designed to bolster the defence in the Reserves. As of the Summer 2023, he started to participate regularly in training with the professional group, presumably as he is likely to figure in the Ligue 1 squad for the 2023/2024 season. After a convincing pre-season campaign, he signed a contract extension with Rennes until 2027. However, after just 8 appearances on the team sheet, all spent on the bench, he was transferred to Amiens on 16th January 2024 for 400,000 Euros, with a buy-back clause, which Stade Rennais activated on 1st July 2024 after six interesting months with the Picardie club in the North of France. However, on 30th August 2024, Jaouab found his route to first team action blocked by the new recruits; Ostigard and Faye, and the Moroccan was loaned back to Amiens once more. Upon his return from the loan spell, he was deemed surplus to requirements and invited to look for a new challenge. On 31st July 2025, Stade Rennais released Jaouab from his contract to sign for Valladolid in Spain, but ensured that there was a clause which guaranteed a percentage commission on any future resale.
