Stade Rennais were on the lookout for a goalkeeper to come in as backup, and they signed Olivier Sorin for two seasons in June 2014. After playing at Nancy and Auxerre, the native of Gien arrived in Rennes to bring his experience to the club, where the club didn’t have much in that role. In two seasons at Rennes, he appeared on the bench 75 times, and never got onto the field, even when Costil got injured, as Diallo took over in goal. At the end of the 2015/2016 season, this ideal sparring partner was out of contract. He managed to persuade the club to offer him the opportunity to stay and coach the young goalkeepers at the club. After a year in the role, and with the advice of Jérôme Hiaumet, Sorin was switched to the First Team squad at the beginning of September 2017, after the club’s collaboration with Christophe Revel ended.
