In 2011, Stade Rennais official announced the signing of Pape Malick Kandji from Touré Kunda in Senegal. This central defender, identical in size and shape to his mentor Mangane, started his apprenticeship with the Reserves under Huard. But after a year and a half of disappointing performances, his contract was terminated by mutual consent so he could find a new club.
