Pascal Rousseau arrived at Stade Rennais FC in 1991 from Stade de Reims. Understudy at Marseille in their Championship-winning season in 1990, this goalkeeper had the tough task of replacing Hiard, a living legend at the Ermine Club, but was also there to replace the disappointing Mantaux. With the competition of Hiard in 1991/1992 and the Cado in the two following seasons, Rousseau was to remain Number One in the eyes of his Managers Notheaux and Le Milinaire. After 127 matches in Rennes’ colours, he achieved promotion to the First Division, but was bitterly disappointed to note that Rennes were looking for another goalkeeper. As the understudy to Rousset, he watched the frequent poor displays by his team-mate, international keeper with 2 caps. At the end of January 1995, Le Milinaire made up his mind to re-instate Rousseau in the starting line-up for the second half of the season, which proved to be the team’s best period of the year. In July 1995, he left the club to join Créteil in Division 2, before spending a few years in Switzerland and Armenia.
