Patrick Consigney was a Moroccan-born striker who began his footballing journey with Cercle Paul Bert in Rennes, before joining the Red and Blacks in 1977. He would mainly play in the Reserves, but would still make 5 appearances with the professionals in the First Team in the 1977/1978 season. Indeed, in his professional debut, he was given a starting spot on the left flank of the Rennes attack in an away match at Paris FC on 20th August, as part of matchday 2 of the Second Division season. He then went on to play four other matches, one a French Cup match at Bordeaux in a Round of 64 tie. He also scored a goal on matchday 19 of that same season against Noeux-lès-Mines, opening the scoring in a 2-3 defeat. He left Stade Rennais in 1978 with a rather disappointing record, signing for FC Lorient in the French Fourth Division and then in Division d'Honneur.
