On paper, Stade Rennais FC had made a huge coup in January 2014, signing Paul-Georges Ntep from Auxerre ahead of numerous other clubs in a deal worth 7 Million Euros. The winger of French-Cameroon origins came to beef up Rennes attack, which had been pretty much toothless to that point. French U21 international, he turned down the millions of Pounds offered by Premier League clubs to continue his development in a Rennes shirt in his favoured role as winger, notably on the left. Although handicapped by injuries, Ntep would still leave his mark on Stade Rennais. He was decisive in the three derby matches which he played at Nantes’ Beaujoire Stadium, “PG” also managed to score a controversial goal at Reims in 2014, going down on his knees to nod the ball over the line. Scoring 18 First-team goal with as many assists to his name, Ntep also managed to get selected for the French national team (2 caps) during his stay in Brittany. On 9th January 2017, he signed for Wolfsburg in Germany for 8.5 Million Euros, with 6 months of his contract at Rennes still to run.
